  1. Centering Jesus
    10,99 $
What happens when Jesus becomes obscured from our point of view?

With all the hostility boiling just under the surface of our world, we need a renewed vision of Jesus as the Lamb of God who can lead us in the peaceable ways of the Kingdom. When we fail to keep Jesus at the center of our lives, we lean into the desires of our hearts more than the desires God has for us. As a result, our entire spirituality becomes driven by the self and for the self. We need renewed practices of centering Jesus in our hearts and minds.

In Centering Jesus, Derek Vreeland invites you to imagine what it looks like to keep Jesus as the Lamb of God at the center of three key areas of our lives-our spiritual formation, our moral lives, and our common life together. With the deep divide in American culture and the polarization that continues to grow, we need a renewed focus on the Lamb so that we might blaze a path forward into civility and kindness.

    Learn how to

    • identify the problems that occur when Jesus is obscured from our view;
    • walk through some of the key biblical descriptions of the Lamb;
    • describe a Lamb-shaped and Jesus-centered approach to the Christian virtues of faith, hope, and love, the foundation of our moral lives; and
    • experience the Lamb at the center of common life together, specifically worship life, participation in acts of justice, and political life.

  2. Deconstruct Faith, Discover Jesus
    12,99 $
Writing this book put me in some dangerous, irreverent territory. I was surprised to find Christ there.

After countless hours of interviews with people who have deconstructed Christianity, Preston Ulmer found that many were told they weren’t Christian before they chose to leave their faith.

    Exiled before exiting.
    Pushed out for wrestling.

Called "trouble" for calling out the tension.

If you look closely, you’ll find that Jesus lived out his faith this way too, deconstructing the parts of religion that we had gotten wrong in order to portray God more clearly. Some people loved him for it. Others crucified him. And his followers are experiencing similar reactions today.

So how do we relate to friends and family who have become skeptical of beliefs they were taught in church? In this case, we renew our minds, which might include rethinking everything we thought we knew for the sake of the unconvinced (Romans 12:2). Are you ready to deconstruct your faith and discover Jesus? Saber más
  3. Whispers from the Lord
    12,99 $
In 1943, nineteen-year-old Arlene Schuiteman began keeping a journal, which she continued her whole life, including thirty-four years of nursing and teaching in three African countries: South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Zambia.

During a particularly trying time, she recorded ninety "whispers from the Lord" in her personal journals. The four years during which Arlene recorded these messages (1975-1979) were among the most difficult years in the history of modern Ethiopia as well as Arlene’s own life. Even as she began transcribing the messages, a violent political movement-the Qey Shibir (Red Terror)-descended on the nation. After being forced to leave her beloved church and her nursing students, she moved to the nation’s capital and was eventually ejected from the country. She soon returned to Africa, however, working this time in Zambia until her retirement in 1989.

Although Arlene recorded these "whispers" as a personal encouragement, at age ninety-eight, she now wishes to share her journal with others who struggle and need to be reminded of God’s faithfulness during dark days. Here is an affirmation of God’s intimacy with his children and his loving response to us all. Saber más

  7. Missions Disrupted
    16,99 $
Most everything in the world has changed since the age of the "Greatest Missionary Generation," which was an outpouring of missionaries following World War II that lasted until around 1985. Today, however, missionaries are no longer welcomed in most of the world, and Christian terms like evangelism, church planting, conversion, and missions are considered pejorative outside of the Western world. All this demands a reexamination of the theology of Missio Dei for today’s world and a theory for change that can be validated with credible research.

Author and former missionary Larry Sharp believes that the era of "professional missions" as we’ve known it is coming to an end. But since God still seeks to redeem his world, the future lies now with "missional professionals," with a new set of rules for how the gospel of Jesus Christ can be proclaimed. Near the end of his life, Billy Graham said, "The great work of God in the 21st century will be through everyday believers living out their faith in the workplace." Since the first century AD, there have been historical events-such the persecution of the early church, the Edict of Milan, and the Protestant Reformation-where major disruption resulted in the radical advance of the gospel. We are on the cusp of another disruptive innovation.

Through real-life narratives of international workplace professionals who have successfully integrated their faith with their work, Missions Disrupted describes how this new work of missions looks today. These inspiring stories come from the world of agriculture, manufacturing, medicine, information technology, education, engineering, music, and retail. It is up to the next generations to continue to share the Good News with the world, wherever and however that may be. Saber más
  8. Troublemakers in the Church
    13,99 $
Most people would agree that the church is an amazing concept-the idea that people who share faith in Christ can worship and serve together and enjoy sweet fellowship that has love, forgiveness, and mutual support as its hallmarks. But the reality is often quite different.

When people who are part of the church behave in ways that are thoughtless, selfish, and even vicious, then that shining ideal dims drastically and people get wounded, sometimes never to recover. Suddenly, the one place in the community that should symbolize hope and light becomes a house of horror. Why does this happen?

The easy answer is to point an accusing finger at Satan, but what about our own culpability? Troublemakers in the Church: Dealing with the Difficult, the Dangerous, and the Deadly identifies twenty-five types of troublesome church members and offers insights on how to deal with them, while also offering a specific plan for how to build a church culture that manages and minimizes trouble. 9. Church Answers Resources: Disciple
    12,99 $
Can you identify the key qualities of a committed, passionate, and healthy disciple of Jesus? Chuck Lawless, a respected professor, pastor, and church consultant, discovered that many pastors haven’t thought deeply about that question. He wrote this book to provide answers and transform churches for the better.

Many church leaders know their communities well and who they are aiming to make disciples of Christ. But too often they haven’t thoroughly articulated their goals and painted a vision for what a disciple looks like within their specific communities. In this book, Dr. Chuck Lawless provides a model for church leaders to build committed disciples of Christ.

    In Disciple, Chuck Lawless
    • Defines biblical discipleship and explores why church leaders sometimes neglect to teach what a faithful and committed disciple of Jesus is
    • Guides pastors and church leaders in developing an effective discipleship model and process for their churches
    • Explains the potential obstacles to a thriving discipleship program and how to overcome them
When a church is filled with passionate and healthy followers of Jesus, there’s a sense that something special is happening. Are you ready to unleash that power in your congregation? Saber más
